Growers in the Gathaithi Farmers’ Co-op enjoy an ideal environment for quality coffee production experiencing an annual rainfall of 1,100mm at 1,720m above sea level with cool temperatures of 16-26°C . Nestled in and around Mt Kenya and the Aberdare Ranges, 1656 farmers with 1/2 an Acre each grow coffee on red-volcanic soil intercropped with banana and maize and shaded by Grevillia and Macadamia trees. The Co-op supports each farmer with training resources and best practice advice on sustainable farming and quality control to ensure the quality of this region continues to improve.
